We start the day by driving to ‘Rohtang Pass’. Few places on the Earth can mark so dramatic a change in landscape as the ‘Rohtang Pass’. We leave the ‘Manali – Leh’ highway and enter into another valley (Chandra Valley) and continue driving on a unmattled road‚ all along the ‘Chandra River’. We get introduced to the magnificent ‘CB Range’. The route now veers to the left of the base of ‘Bara Shigri Glacier’‚ which is nearly 28 km long and several kilometers wide. Further driving we reach the village of ‘Batal’‚ the base of ‘Kumzum Pass’. From here a drive of 12 kms gets us to the top of the Pass. We descend down and reach the first village of ‘Spiti’ – Losar. Here we spend the night in hotel.

Day 04: Lossar – Kaza (3600 Mts.) - (Drive - Approx 03 - 04 hrs)

After breakfast‚ we drive through the village of ‘Losar’ along the ‘Spiti River’. We pass through a series of villages like ‘Kyoto’‚ ‘Hansa’‚ ‘Morang’ and ‘Rangrik’. We finally reach ‘Kaza’ the main town of ‘Spiti’. Arctic conditions prevail in the town and it remains extremely arid. We move to the hotel later‚ and sleep for the night in the hotel itself.

Day 05: Kaza – Tabo via Dhankar (Drive - Approx 05 - 06 hrs)

After a 30 km drive from ‘Kaza’ we reach the village of ‘Dhankar’‚ located at a height of 3890 mts. There is a 6th century ‘Gompa’ which has some magnificent ‘Thankas’ and ‘Murals’. From here we head towards ‘Lalung’‚ a small village in ‘Lingthi Valley’ consisting a cluster of 50 to 60 houses with a population of 300. Then after, we cross the ‘Spiti River’ and finally reach ‘Tabo’. Here we spend the day visiting villages and at night retire at the hotel.

Day 06: Tabo – Losar (Drive - Approx 08 - 09 hrs)
Today we drive back to Losar through the same route. We cross the ‘Spiti River’ and move towards ‘Lalung’. After passing through a horde of villages like ‘Kyoto’‚ ‘Hansa’‚ ‘Morang’‚ and ‘Rangrik’‚ we finally reach ‘Losar’.

Day 07: Losar – Keylong (Drive - Approx 05 - 06 hrs)
Today we head towards ‘Keylong’ by crossing the bridge on a river and move north along the ‘Bhaga Valley’ to reach the beautiful village of ‘Keylong’. ‘Keylong’ is quite a busy town‚ as it is the only big market in ‘Lahaul Region’. As we move further towards ‘Darcha’‚ we see along the river many villages with Buddhist prayer flags and Stupa’s and the landscape also embodies a more desert look. Overnight in hotel.

Day 08: Keylong – Udaipur and Triloknath and back (Drive - Approx 05 - 06 hrs)
Here in ‘Keylong’‚ one can visit the ‘Kardang Gompa’ which was founded about 900 years ago but it lay in ruin till 1912. The monastery is built against a backdrop of a bare mountain nestling in the lap of the ‘Rangcha’ peaks‚ which rises above the valley like a giant cobra standing on its tail‚ ready to strike. Then we head towards ‘Udaipur’ which was known as ‘Markhula’ in the ancient times. There is an old temple here‚ famous for its wooden carving in its roof and ceiling‚ depicting various mythological tales of Hinduism. Later‚ we also visit ‘Trilokinath’ temple. It is a sacred temple for both hindus and Buddhists and attracts many pilgrims throughout the year. We drive back to ‘Keylong’ and overnight at the hotel.
